Join Creative Club San Diego for one of our most elevated events yet. On March 19th, we're welcoming Tom Jennings, Executive Producer of 1895 Films — an award-winning documentary production company whose work has appeared on Netflix, National Geographic, Disney+, and the Smithsonian Channel.
Notable projects include The Real Right Stuff, Apollo: Missions to the Moon, MLK: The Assassination Tapes, and Diana: In Her Own Words. 1895 Films has received Emmy and Peabody recognition and has been named to Realscreen's Global 200.
Session Theme: Building an Award-Winning Creative Company & Leading with Story
This is not just a filmmaking talk. Tom will share the real story behind building a world-class production company — the early mistakes, the defining pivots, and what it actually takes to earn trust from major networks. Whether you're a creative, entrepreneur, founder, or leader, this session will challenge how you think about storytelling and business.
We'll cover:
• What it actually takes to grow a production company
• How you earn trust from major networks
• Early mistakes and defining pivots
• The shift from hands-on creative to leader
• How powerful storytelling goes beyond film
Creative Club San Diego's seventh event welcomed Tom Jennings, Executive Producer of 1895 Films, for an intimate evening of networking and conversation at the Crescendo / Encore Room. With Emmy and Peabody-recognized work spanning Netflix, National Geographic, Disney+, and the Smithsonian Channel — including titles like Apollo: Missions to the Moon and Diana: In Her Own Words — Tom brought both the credentials and the candor that made for a compelling night.
His keynote went beyond filmmaking, offering an honest look at what it truly takes to build a world-class creative company — from early mistakes and defining pivots to earning trust with major networks and making the shift from hands-on creator to leader. The evening closed with open networking, giving the 50 guests in attendance a chance to connect and carry the conversation forward.
